2026 Halloween Rapids

The veil between worlds - and blunders - grows thin…
Join us if you dare for our 2026 Halloween Rapid Chess Night, where ghosts of gambits past will haunt the Ivy Tower Hotel for one chilling evening of 10+0 madness.
When: Wednesday 21st October
Registration: 7:00 – 7:20 pm
First round begins: 7:25 pm sharp
Venue: Ivy Tower Hotel, New Antrim Street, Castlebar (F23 DT35)
Entry Fee: €2 per person
Format: 5 rounds | 10+0 time control
Prizes await the victors.
Please note:

• Children must be strictly 9 years or older.
• Please bring your own chess clock (or app equivalent - these can be downloaded for free on the playstore), and make sure the settings are set to 10+0. Help will be available on the night if needed.

We can’t wait to see your sinister strategies and spectral sacrifices.
Will you emerge triumphant… or be taken by the darkness of a checkmate?
If you’d like to lend a hand setting up the battlefield, a few extra ghosts and ghouls to help with tables and boards are always. There's no need to commit, just creep in a little before 7pm if you can. Please also note children must be a minimum of 9 years old to enter.
Warm and spooky regards.
