FIDE Master Chess Coaches in Austria

Chess in Austria is organized under the Austrian Chess Federation (Österreichischer Schachbund, ÖSB), based in Graz and a FIDE member since 1926. The federation runs the Austrian Chess Championship and publishes the member magazine Schach Aktiv. Team chess is anchored by the national top division, the 1. Bundesliga, where club sides play eight-board matches over a season running roughly October to April. Vienna carries the country's historical weight: it hosted a string of landmark international tournaments (1873, 1882, 1898, 1908) that drew the strongest players in the world and helped shape modern tournament chess. Today the scene is less about one dominant city and more about a steady network of clubs feeding both the national league and the federation's junior and adult title events.
